Latest version of Firefox won't start in Linux Mint -

since yesterday firefox won't start when click on icon. i'm running linux mint 14 in virtualbox. think it's trying update version 39.0.3.
in terminal get
firefox -safe-mode
error: platform version '39.0.3' not compatible minversion >= 39.0 maxversion <= 39.0
there can (update configuration file?) make work?
help
